Sharon TornowTAMPICO – Sharon A. Tornow, 76 of Tampico died Saturday February 29, 2020 at Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling.

 

She was born on May 24, 1943 in Princeton, the daughter of Harold and Berneil (Kuepker) Murray. She married LaVerne S. Tornow on February 24, 1963 in Yorktown. Sharon had served as the Post Master of the Deer Grove, IL post office for 35 years retiring in 2009. She was a member of New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling and had served on the church council. She had enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, LaVerne; her daughters: Sheri (Brian) Kelly of Tinley Park, Sheila (Michael) Kincaid and Ann (Bruce) Cooper both of Tampico; six grandchildren: Evan Cooper, Julia Cooper, Gaige Kincaid, Joshua Kincaid, Barrett Kincaid and Brianna Kincaid.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Monday March 2, 2020 from 5-7 PM at New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling. The funeral will follow on Tuesday at 10:30 AM in the church with Pastor Ben Anderson officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements by Garland Funeral Homes.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
