Obits > 1912 - Arthur Vernon Pierce

Tampico Tornado, Dec. 12, 1912 2;3

Arthur Vernon Pierce the six months old son of Trank Pierce who lives south east of Tampico died last week Wednesday evening about 9 o'clock with an abcess of the throat with which the little fellow sufferd for two weeks.

The burial occurred the next day in Whittington cemetery. This is the third child that Mr. and Mrs. Pierce have lost out of their family which now consists of five children - one boy and four girls. Mr. and Mrs. Pierce have the sympany of all in their affliction.  (end of obit)

NOTE:
Our TMC index originally listed "infant Pierce," infant of "Frank Pierce" with a death date of Feb. 4, 1912 (type - should have been 12/04/1912).  I will assume at this point that the info was completely incorrect. There was a burial for an infant, "ordered by: Trank Pierce, in Dec. 4, 1912. Funeral log does not tell where they are buried (in the early years).

I have checked the "Whittington" (now called the Union or Greenville/Fairfield Cemetery) and here are the following PIERCE listings:

Section A (Lot owner: *Frank Pierce)
Lot 1 - William Pierce - son of Ed & Nora Pierce, d. Feb. 1901 (no day stated) (***Sexton's records state this was *Frank Pierce's boy, bur. Feb. 8, 1901)***this is how it is transcribed on the Cemetery List given to me/Denise. The next entry has "Trank" listed with a notation that it was spelled like that, implying they think "Trank is a misspelling of Frank.

Next Listing is section:
2A - Trank (spelled like this), Father, 1871-1962

2B - PIERCE, Bena (nee) Axelina, mother, 1883-1958

PIERCE, Golden I., *Frank PIerce's baby, bur. Dec. 6, 1912 - nO MARKER (nothing found in our Tampico Tornado, but some of our pages are deteriorated)

PIERCE, Arthur, Ed Pierce's son, *Frank Pierce's nephew, bur. Mar 23, 1909

*Frank" - this is how it is transcribed on my records. Only one time is it transcribed as "Trank" in the Union Cemetery.

So, now I am very confused! The Arthur buried at Union (aka: Whittington or Greenville/Fairfield) cemetery has a different death date and is noted as being the son of Ed, not Trank.
