DEATH OF IRENE LOU LYON

Irene Lou Ella Lyon died in St. Joseph Hospital at Aurora last Sunday after an illness of almost two weeks. Her death was caused from a ruptured appendix from which she was a great sufferer. She was operated upon twice and was to have been operated upon the third time the morning after her death. After the last operation she was too weak to have the wound closed and laid in this condition with a smile for everyone.

The funeral services were held Tuesday at the home of R. W. Olmstead in Prophetstown where the remains were taken the evening before and she was laid to rest beside other relatives in the Prophetstown cemetery. The floral pieces were beautiful and they helped to make the sorrow lighter for they showed sympathy.

Irene Lou Ella Lyon was born in Tampico township Nov. 30, 1897 and was the daughter of Lewis L. Lyon and Grace Needham Lyon. They with three brothers and a sister survive.

She lived with her parents here until her mother moved to Clinton several years ago. She joined the Presbyterian church and was an active member. She was always patient and thought of others who were caring for her. She said she was ready to go if she had to and saidt it with a smile. Mrs. Lyon and daughter attended the funeral from Tampico.
