Mrs. Charles Darby, 81, passed away early Wednesday morning at St. Francis hospital in Freeport where she had been a patient for the past few years. A heart ailment caused by asthma and aggravated by the extreme heat was the cause of her death. The rosary will be said Thursday evening at 8:00 at the Parent Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9:30 in St. Mary's church with burial in St. Mary's cemetery. Mrs. Mary Darby, daughter of John and Charlotte Reid Davis, was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland, and came to the United States in 1885. She and Mr. Darby, who came to the States from Scotland in 1883, were married on Dec. 26, 1887 in Omaha, Neb. They lived at Deadwood, S.D. for a time and in 1902 came to Tampico where Mr. Darby conducted a tailor shop until he retired a few years ago. She is survived by her husband, who is also at St. Francis in Freeport: two daughters, Mrs, Margaret Wolfe of New York, N.Y., and Mrs. Nelllie Faubert of Malta, Mont: six sons, Charles, a patient in the U,S. veterans hospital at North Chicago, Thos. of Cresco, Iowa, John of Springfield, James and Hubert of Tampico and Lawrence of Des Moines, Iowa: eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
