S/Sgt. Jack B. LANGFORD, 53 formerly of Walnut, died Sat., Sept. 5, at Great Lakes Naval Hospital.

Prayers services will b held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Allen-Garland Funeral Home in Walnut and the Mass of Resurrection will be 10:30 a.m. at ST. Mary's Catholic Church in Tampico with Rev. Eugene PARKER officiating with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the grave by Walnut American Legion.

A memorial has been established in his memory to the Catholic Relief.

S/Sgt. LANGFORD was born on March 2, 1928 in Walnut, the son of Merrill and Ellen BURDEN LANGFORD. He attended the Walnut Grade and High Schools. He served in the U. S. Army for 3 tours in Vietnam, occupation forces in Japan and served in Korea and two tours in Germany.

He is survived by one son, Jack and one daugjter, Betty Ann, both of Rock Island; one brother, Thomas of Bettendorf; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
