Darlene M. Hartz, age 85, of Walnut Manor Nursing Home and formerly of rural Manlius, Illinois, died Friday, September 22, 2006 at the Walnut Manor.

Mrs. Hartz was born on December 31, 1920, near New Bedford, Illinois, the daughter of Herbert and Pearl (Potts) Yonk. She was united in marriage to Lyle Hartz on September 29, 1952 in Walnut, Il.. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1993. She was a beautician in her earlier years and also worked at Green River Ordinance Plant at Amboy, Illinois during World War II. She was a member of the New Bedford Christian Church and she was baptized in The Harmon Christian Church... She enjoyed gardening and her family.

She is survived by two sons, Don (Marti) Hartz of Tebbets, Missouri; Dennis (Julie) Hartz of Sheffield, Illinois; two daughters, Nancy (Sam) Popejoy of Manlius, Illinois, Linda Hartz of Sterling, Illinois; one daughter in law Renee Hartz of Manlius, Illinois, 17 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; three sisters, Lavonne Rasmussen of Oregon, Illinois, Maizie (Robert) Durham of Walnut, Illinois, Melva Gibson of Walnut, Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son Art.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with the Rev. Scott Schmidt, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manlius officiating. Burial will be in Manlius Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. A MEMORIAL HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED IN HER MEMORY TO THE WALNUT MANOR VAN FUND AND MANLIUS CEMETERY.
