Lester Cassens

GALT - Lester C. Cassens, 93, of 5103 South St., Galt, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at his home. He farmed in the Sterling area and sold Surge milking machines.

Mr. Cassens was born Sept. 15, 1913, in Malvern, the son of Henry and Caroline Margaretha Dorthea Elizabeth (Popkins) Cassens. He married Evelyn Ann Royer on June 5, 1937, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sterling. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sterling.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sharon Cox and Carolyn (David) Allen, both of Rock Falls, and Maureen (Bob) Brown of Surprise, Ariz.; a son, Ted (Lynn) Cassens of Sterling; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Albrecht and Margaret Boseneiler; and six brothers, Ernest, John, Carl, Edward, Elmer and Vernon Cassens.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sterling, with the Rev. Judith Huseth, pastor, officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements were completed by Garland Funeral Home, Walnut.
