Avon Lane Scott of Grand Rapids Dies; Funeral On Saturday

Avon Lane Scott, 55, Grand Rapids, Mich., formerly of Hume township, died Wednesday night, July 4, following a heart attack suffered while returning from a fishing trip to his home in Grand Rapids.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, in Grand Rapids.

Mr. Scott was the son of Albert E. and Mary Lane Scott. He was born Sept. 2, 1895 in Hume township, receiving his education in schools there and in a trade school in Chicago. He farmed in Hume until 1926, when he moved to Grand Rapids. He was a member of Rock Falls Masonic lodge 936, demitting to a Grand Rapids lodge after moving.

He was sales manager for the Burkholder Chevrolet company in Grand Rapids 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, Thelma; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Johnson, Grand Rapids, and Miss Mary Lane Scott, at home; two grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Orville (Ruth) Chatterson, Grand Rapids. Two sisters, Mrs. Albert E. (Dolly) Spearen and Susan Scott, and his parents preceded him in death.
