MESSAGE TELLS OF DEATH OF PRIV. JAMES ESHELMAN

Priv. James ESHELMAN Meets Death On Battlefields of France According To Word Received.

Another young man from this vicinity made the supreme sacrifice on the battle fields of France according to a message just received last week Thursday from Washington to Mrs. John ESHELMAN which states that Private James ESHELMAN was severely wounded on Oct. 28 and died the following day, Oct. 29.  No further particulars are known about his death.  The family resided southwest of Tampico where they are well known and the belated news of his death  came as a severe shock to the widowed mother.

Priv. ESHELMAN was inducted into Camp Grant last June and after receiving his training there was sent over seas in September reaching the front lines when some of the most severe fighting was taking place.  He was first connected with the 86th and later the 89th division in the famousold 354th Co. which is noted for its casualties.  Among the soldiers who met their death in this company are Grant METCALF, Wm. CARLSON, Morris ANDERSON of Deer Grove and Archie YARDE was reported missing from that company but later reported for duty.

Priv. ESHELMAN was 35 years of age Dec. 2 and was the son of Mrs. John ESHELMAN well known southwest of here.  He is survived by four brothers, Edward who lives southwest of here, Charles of Kewanee, Harry and George of Hooppole, also one sister, Mrs. Ernest SCHULTZ of Mingo Iowa.

Particulars of his death are being looked up by the American Red Cross.
