Irene J. Emery

 

            Irene J. Emery, 91, of Prophetstown, died Sunday, October 23, 2005 at the Four Seasons Living Center, Morrison.  Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the First Lutheran Church, Prophetstown.  Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church.  Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown.  A memorial fund has been established.  The Gibson & Son Funeral Home is handling the cremation and services.

            Irene was born July 5, 1914 in rural Prophetstown, the daughter of Anton and Nannie (Ackeberg) Gibson.   She married Charles G. Emery on October 9, 1930 in Prophetstown.  He preceded her on February 28. 1996.

            Irene helped her husband operate the Pure Oil Station in Prophetstown during World War II.  Later she was the City Collector for the City of Prophetstown for many years.

            She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and a member and Past Worthy Matron of Minerva Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Prophetstown.

            She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and John Albrecht, a son and daughter-in-law, Charles G. and Neva Jean Emery, all of Prophetstown, grandsons and spouses, Jeffrey and Pam Albrecht, Mike Emery, Drew and Becky Emery, all of Prophetstown, Brent and Renee Emery, New Lenox, IL, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a sister Jean Blair, Prophetstown.
