Helen Bauman

 

            Helen Bauman, 91, resident of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Nursing Home, died Sunday, January 9, 2005 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

            Helen was born August 28, 1913 in Dixon, IL, the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Oltman) Heckler.  She married Lorence Bauman on April 25, 1934 in Rock Falls, IL.  He died September 4, 1997.  Mrs. Bauman worked as a clerk for many years at both Rheelings Grocery in Rock Falls and the Ben Franklin Store in Prophetstown.  She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Falls serving on the Ladies Aid and Helping Hand Circles.  Helen enjoyed playing pinocle in the social church circle.

            Surviving are two daughters, Donna (William) Johnson of Rock Falls and Mary (Dean) Long of Black Hawk, SD; five grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren.

            She was preceded in death by one sister; four brothers.

            Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Falls with Rev. Henrietta Milner pastor officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.  Visitation is Wednesday from 9:00 – 10:30 A.M. at the church.  Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls.
