Thelma G. Sibley

 

            Thelma G. Sibley, 92, of Prophetstown, died Monday, January 30, 2006 in the Hospice Unit of CGH Medical Center, Sterling.  Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Propehtstown.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

            Thelma was born Oct. 3, 1913 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of Cecil and Lillian (Slaundwhite) Meisner.  She married Grant Sibley in Eureaka Springs, Ark. in 1939.  He preceded her in death in 1967.

            Thelma worked for many years as a private duty nurse.

            Survivors include daughters Elizabeth Maronde, Rock Falls, Priscilla “Susie” Knickel, Prophetstown, sons and daughters-in-laws, Paul and Rosemary Sibley and James and Ruth Ann Sibley, all of Prophetstown, 12 grandchildren, including Dorothy Sibley-Rebert, whom Thelma raised, 22 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
