William Jacob Shrock
William Jacob Shrock, Jr. was born March 16, 1924 near Shelbyville, IL to William and Laura (Miller) Shrock Sr. He peacefully passed away at 7:45 on the morning of March 5, 2005, at his home near Tampico, IL, from congestive heart failure at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 17 days.
He accepted Christ, in his youth, as his personal Savior and was a member of the Fairfield Amish Mennonite Church of Tampico, Il. In which faith he remained faithful until God called him home. He was ordained to the ministry on Dec. 12, 1965 to preach the word of God. he was united in marriage to Edna Fern Swartzentruber on Dec. 3, 1946. They shared the joys and sorrows of life together for over 58 years. This union was blessed with 4 sons and 4 daughters of which 7 survive. Bertha (Mrs. Clarence Headings); of Blue River, WI, Nancy of Tampico, IL,. Clifford and wife Marie, of Tampico, IL, Larry and wife Leola, of Middletown, Mo, Lenora (Mrs Herman Hostetler Jr.); of Deer Grove, IL, Earl and wife Leona of Deer Grove, IL, and Stanley and wife Carolyn, of Leola, PA. One daughter Miriam Jean preceded him in death at the age of 1 day old. Also surviving are 32 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. he was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, Russel, John, Paul, Melvin, Leo, and Carl, 3 sisters Viola (Mrs Allen Kropf), Ester (Mrs Raymond Kropf) and Lela (Mrs Herman Hostetler Jr.). Also one infant granddaughter.
He moved from Shelby Co. IL to Bureau Co. Il in 1942. At the time of his marriage he moved to a farm near Tampico, IL where he resided until the time of his death. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, at 10am at the Fairfield Amish Mennonite Church near Tampico, IL. Burial was at Fairfield Amish Mennonite Cemetery in Tampico. Visitation was held on Monday at the Fairfield Amish Mennonite School. Arrangements were completed by the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut.
