Sean Patrick Staelens, age 23, passed away unexpectedly on September 6, 2007, at Presque Isle near Marquette, MI. He was born on August 10, 1984, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Mark and Anne (Falterman) Staelens. Sean grew up in Neenah and graduated from Neenah High School in 2003. He graduated this year with a degree in Biology from Northland College in Ashland, WI. Sean was an Eagle Scout, loved the outdoors and had a lifelong passion for wolves. He loved cross-country running and scuba diving, and he also enjoyed white-water canoeing and snowboarding.

Sean will be deeply missed by his parents, Mark and Anne Staelens; his sisters: Katie, Molly and Mariah Staelens, all from Neenah; his paternal grandmother, Marjorie Staelens, Dixon, IL; all of his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and Nick Brancato who was like a brother to him.

Sean was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Alfred Staelens, Tampico, IL, and his maternal grandparents, Horace and Edna Falterman, Lafayette, LA.

A Memorial Mass for Sean will be held on Saturday, September, 15, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton, with The Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Sean's name to benefit the International Wolf Center, Ely, MN.
