OBITUARY

Mr. Charles W. Chriest, age 74, of 200 S. Grove Street, Tampico, Illinois, died suddenly on Saturday, July 6, 1996 in CGH Medical Center inSterling, Illinois.

 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the Garland Funeral HOme in Tampico. Visitation will be on Monday, July 8 from 4-8 p.m. in the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico, burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his memory.

 

Mr. Chriest was born on June 20, 1922 in Tampico, Illinois, the son of Charles and Maude Kilroy Chriest. He was united in marriage to Eula M. Bruder on June 7, 1942 inRock Falls, Illinois. He was employed as a machinist at Northwestern Steel & Wire Co. in Sterling for 32 years and retired on March 1, 1983. He owned and operated Chriest Garage in Tampico since 1955 andChriest Auto Sales in Rock Falls since 1985.

 

He is survived by his wife, Eula of Tampico, four sons, Charles D. (Vicky) Chriest and Steven J. Chriest, both of Tampico; Roger L. (Mary) Chriest of Rock Falls Illinois and Timothy (Kathy) Chriesst ofAurora, Illinois; three duaghters, Ida Rae Staelens ofSterling, Illinois, Susan Francis of Texas, and Mrs. Randy (Anna) Wetzell of Tampico, Illinois; 21 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Darlene Kent of Rock Falls, Illinois, and Mrs. Charles (Ida) Adams of Tampico, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson; one great-grandson; two brothers and two sisters.
