Mrs. Dorothy H. Carlson, age 92, of 208 E. Market Street, Tampico, Illinois, died December 16, 2001, at the Carle Arbours Nursing Home at Savoy, Illinois.

Mrs. Carlson was born February 2, 1909 in Tampico, Illinois, the daughter of L. Earle and Mabel (Remington) Smith. She was united in marriage to Glen H. Carlson in April of 1937 in Tampico, Illinois. He preceded her in death in September of 1973. In her early years she was a secretary at Larson's Manufacturing in Sterling, Illinois and then at National Manufacturing in Sterling, Illinois. She then worked at Peerless Level and Tool in Sterling, Illinois, and at Lee Wayne Company in Sterling, Illinois from 1951-1971. She was a member of the Tampico Baptist Church in Tampico, Illinois, and was an organist and pianist at the church since 1923. She was a member of several civic organizations an was a world wife traveler.

She is survived by one son, Donald Carlson of Champaign, Illinois,; two grandson, Jeffery Carlson of Lisle, Illinois, and Jonathan of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister, Eleanor McKenzie of Aurora, Illinois; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Alan; one sister in infancy.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Tampico Baptist Church with the Rev. Lauren W. Gerber, pastor officiating. Burial will be in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. A memorial has been established in her memory to the Tampico Baptist Church.
