OBITUARY

Mr. Michael A. Donnelly, age 74, of 1801 Avenue G, Sterling, Illinois, and formerly of Tampico, died Thursday morning, May 2, 1996 at his home in Sterling, Illinois.

Funeral prayer services will be conducted on Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico, Illinois, followed by 10:30 a.m. mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tampico, with Rev. Vincent J. Shindelar, pastor officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Tampico. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico with the rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m. A memorial has been established in his memory to the Tampico Library and St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society.

Mr. Donnelly was born January 27, 1922 in Toluca, Illinois, the son of Michael C. and Henrietta G. Gavelli Donnelly. He was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Welsch on June 15, 1944 in Touca, and she preceded him on February 21, 1979. He was a rural mail carrier for the Tampcio Post Office for about 30 years and retired in 1979. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II and received the Purple Heart Award. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tampico and was a member of the Rural Letter Carriers' Association.

He is survived by one son, Michael of Rock Falls, Illinois; four daughters, Mrs. Ken (Cheryl) Perrizo of Scottsdale, Arizona. Mrs. Al (Janis ) Thompson of Deer Grove, Illinois, Mrs. Dennis (Kristine) Calsyn of Rock Falls, Illinois, and Mrs. Mark (Eileen) Sedig of Sterling, Illinois; ten grandchildren; and one great=granddaughter.

Other survivors included: one sister, Mrs. Merlin (Bernadine) Baker of San Jose, California; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded  by his parents, wife, one brother and two sisters.
