Clayton J. Smith Rites Saturday
 
Clayton J. Smith, 68, of 207 E. Market St., Tampico, died Wednesday morning while on a fishing trip to Louisiana.
 
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Allen-Schmitt-Garland Funeral Chapel in Tampico with Rev. Hollis R. Wharton of Walnut officiating.  Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation is Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
 
He was born Nov. 17, 1909 in Browns Valley, Minn., the son of William and Laura McKee Smith. He served in the Army during WW II.  He was a member of the Tampico United Methodist Church, the Tampico Volunteer Fire Dept., the Tampico Lions Club and an active member of the Tampico Boosters Club.  He married Mildred Peterson on March 2, 1945 in Tampico.
 
Survivors include his widow; three sisters, Mrs. Alice and Angeline Smith both of Madison, Wis., and Mrs. Ray (Florence) Wiley of Grinnell, Iowa;  one brother, Robert L. (Mac) Smith of Oregon.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
