Frederick E. Toppert Succumbs Saturday
 
Lyndon: - Frederick E. Toppert, 85, died  Saturday evening at Morrison Community Hospital where he had been a patient for four days.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Leon United Methodist Church and burial will be in Leon Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Gardner Chapel in Prophetstown from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Masonic services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday at Gardner Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Leon United Methodist Church.
 
Frederick Toppert was born July 10, 1890 in Buda, the son of Ernest and Elizabeth Houch Toppert.  He was educated in Buda and Tampico schools and was a member of Leon United Methodist Church. He married Effie Zarr in Prophetstown on Dec. 11, 1912. He farmed in the Prophetstown area until retiring to Lyndon in 1958.  He also served as Lyndon Township assessor for a number of years.  He was a member of Hooppole Masonic Lodge, Moline Consistory, Mohammed Shrine of Peoria and Rock River Shrine.
 
Survivors include two sons, Clarence of Lyndon, and Clyde of Algonquin; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Emma Warner of Monee, Ill.; two brothers, William of Tulsa, Okla., and Earl of Morrison.
 
He was preceded by his parents, his wife, one son, two grandchildren, one sister and three brothers.
