HAMMOND (Spin) LAWRENCE
 
Prophetstown: - Hammond (Spin) Lawrence, 67, 702 Washington St., Prophetstown, died unexpectedly early Friday morning at his home.
 
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Prophetstown, with military rites. Visitation will be on Saturday evening at the Gardner Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m.   Memorials may be made to the Prophetstown Volunteer Ambulance service.
 
Hammond Lawrence was born on March 1, 1917 in Erie, the son of Lynn and Lyla Hammond Lawrence. He was educated in the Prophetstown Schools. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Prophetstown, Post 522 American Legion, and the Sterling Moose Lodge. He served in the United States Army during World War II and formerly served as the Prophetstown City Clerk for 12 years.  On Jan. 28, 1939 he married Vera Peterson of Prophetstown in Clinton, Iowa. They lived in Prophetstown all their married life and he was associated with Robbie's Ford Mercury for the past 15 years.
 
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Lyla Lawrence, Prophetstown;  wife, Vera; one son, Tim, Rock Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Myron (Dorothy) Hill, Prophetstown, and Mrs. Kenneth (Jean) Thompson, Beloit, Wis.; and three grandchildren.
 
Preceding him in death were his father in 1967 and one daughter.
