Prophetstown: - Claude Ackeberg, 82, Rt. 3, Prophetstown, died Thursday evening at Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, where he had resided for the past six months.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Gardner Chapel with the Rev. Bruce James, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 2 to 4 at the Gardner Funeral Home.  A memorial has been established.
 
Claude Ackeberg was born on March 2, 1902 in Prophetstown, the son of Gust and Emma Johnson Ackeberg. He was educated in rural Prophetstown schools. On March 2, 1926 he married Mae Waterfill of Lyndon in Prophetstown. They farmed in the Lyndon Community until 1969 when he retired and then moved to Morrison, moving to their present home in Prophetstown in 1972.  He was a longtime member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau and had served as commission on the drainage district and as a director of the Lyndon School Board.
 
Surviving are his wife; one son, Richard, Lyndon; four grandchildren; one great grandson; and one sister, Mrs. Mildred Swanson, Prophetstown.
 
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
