BARLOW ROY SIGEL


Tampico: - Barlow Roy Sigel, 58, of 210 S. Lincoln, died Saturday at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.


Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico with Rev. James Trannel, pastor, of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at


8 p.m. at the funeral home.


Memorials have been established to Boystown, Nebraska and Shults, Lewis Children’s Home in Valpariso, Ind.


Mr. Sigel was born May 12, 1931 in Dixon, the son of Harry and Emma Plock Sigel. He married Patricia Kerr Nov. 7, 1953 in Rogers City, Mich. He was a Master Sergeant for 21 years in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea and retiring in 1971. He worked for Myers Ford in Sterling from 1972-1984, and served as mayor of Tampico from 1987 until the time of his death. Mr. Sigel was a member of the Tampico Long Range Planning Commission, Tourism Board of Rock River Valley, and the Air Force Sergeants Association.


He is survived by his wife, of Tampico, four sons, Daniel of Milledgeville, Michael, Robert and Karl of Tampico, one daughter, Mrs. Brent (Anita) Smith of Norcross, Georgia; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Gene (Martha) Hillison of Dixon, Mrs. Melvin (Shirley) Hoiser of Fisher; four brothers, Harry of Sterling, David and John of Rock Falls, Dale of Deer Grove, and two aunts.


He was preceded by his parents and a stepfather.
