QUIETLY CELEBRATE 45TH ANNIVERSARY

 

Mr. and Mrs. James J. WELCH of 307 East Third street, Rock Falls, observed their 45th wedding anniversary in a quiet manner Tuesday. Friends called in the afternoon and in the evening a group of relatives came in to surprise them. Cards and music were enjoyed followed by the serving of refreshments.

 

The couple was remembered with bouquets of flowers and anniversay greetings.  They were married 45 years ago on Feb. 27, 1900, in St. Mary’s Catholic church, Tampico, by the Rev. Fr. WEBER. They farmed in Hume and Hahnaman townships for 44 years, retiring a year ago and for 44 years, retiring a year ago and moving to their present home in Rock Falls.

 

They have four children: Clarence and Russell WELCH of Rock Falls, Miss Angela WELCH, a teachr in St. Mayr’s high school in Chicago, and Miss Mildred WELCH, a stenographer in Chicago. Miss Mildred was home for her parents’ anniversary. Mrs. E. Hall of Detroit, Mich., was also an out of town guest for the celebration
