TAMPICO - A Tampico Middle school burglary is the Whiteside County Crime Stoppers Crime of the Month for July 1998.

The burglary, which included criminal damage to property, happened in the late evening hours of July 1 or the early morning hours of July 2.

According to Crime Stoppers, unknown subjects broke a back window of the school and gained entry. Once inside, the subjects broke windows, broke into a candy machine and sprayed fire extinguishers inside the school, Crime Stoppers reported.

The incident caused several thousand dollars of damage, officials said.

Callers will remain anonymous and are eligible for cash rewards or up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and filing or criminal charges against people involved in this or other crimes.
