Dr. Sharon Callaghan has allowed me to borrow her 1872 Whiteside Plat Map so that I can take digital photos and upload them to our web album. I haven't finished photographing all of the townships yet, but I wanted you to be aware of the ones we have to date. I'll try to finish up in next few days.

The Picasa web albums are especially nice since we are not charged for these off-site albums. They also allow you to enlarge and pan the photo. If you have g-mail(free), you can also leave a comment, correction, addition, etc. under the photo.

The "bad" news is that our search engine cannot "read" the names. So, you will need to know what area to look and then read the landowners on the map.

Let me know how you like this new Map & Atlas album. I also have an 1893 & 1912 plat map, but they are only part of an on-going "to-do" list..... (smile)

I have completed the upload of the 1872 Plat map of Whiteside County, IL.

I hope to get the 1893 & 1912 uploaded in the near future. It's on the never ending "To Do" list.....

Denise,
Thank you very much for posting the complete 1872 Whiteside Co. Plat. Map & Directory!
I recently received an obituary from Barbara Mask at the Fulton Historical Society for Robert B. Myers (1827-1882), a wagonmaker on Base St.,1st Ward, Fulton. So I googled his name and your site came up with the transcribed 1872 Whiteside Directory, which listed R. B. Myers-Manufacturer of Wagons, under Fulton business References. I then found the actual digitized photos that you posted here!
I know that you are mainly Tampico History, but if you would like a copy of his obituary, let me know at: dmyers_49@juno.com . I have also transcribed it.
Also, I am looking for an actual advertisement of his business in Fulton, so if you or anyone should run across one in an historical paper, or a photo of his business, please let me know.
Thanks,
David M. Myers
Elkton, Md.
