I'm searching for a date and place of death for George Mingle.

Several years ago somebody checked Ancestry and came up with this information;

1930 US Veteran's Hospital, Prescott Dist 27, Yavapai, AZ (indexed as MENGLE, clearly an 'i')
MINGLE, George E., patient, 45, divorced, age first married 39, b. IL, parents b. IL

Name: George E Mengle
Age: 45
Estimated birth year: abt 1885
Birthplace: Illinois
Relation to head-of-house: Patient
Race: White
Home in 1930: Prescott, Yavapai, Arizona

Age, martial status, place of birth all check out the only thing that doesn't is the fact that I don't think he was in the military. I'd like to request a look-up on Ancestry in the military records.

Thanks

I'd like to know if someone is working on the Mingle line and might recognize the name George E. Mingle who was born about 1884 in Rock Falls, IL son of Stanton Mingle and Nancy C. Emmons.

Also, I'd like to know if someone can look in the Ancestry military records for his name. He would have served in WWII if he did in fact serve. If he didn't serve, I doubt the census record was his.

Thanks Barb Chandler

Dear Barb,

I took a look an Ancestry tonight for George E. Mingle.

It could be him in the 1930 AZ., census, but I also believe he was the entry of George E. MINGEL 1920, Benton Co. IA., Vinton Twp., Vinton City. Age 35; D for Divorced; Born IL., and both parents IL.

ALSO;
I found on Ancestry as George E. MINGEL -- U.S. National Homes For Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, 1866 - 1938.

State: South Dakota
County: Fall River
City: Hot Springs
Branch: Battle Mountain Sanitarium

Military History:
Enlistment 25 May 1912 as Sgt.Jefferson --- MO.
Discharged 26 July -------- N.Y.

Domestic History:
Born Sterlin IL. 26 Oct. 1884
Age 45
Residence Subsequent to Discharge - Marshaltown, IA.

Name and Address of Nearest Rel.
Stratton Mingel Temp_ _ _ City, Calif. (?Temple)

It Appears he was discharged about 30 June 1931, and re Admitted 1 Oct., 1932

The writing on this document is poor, and I have not included all that is on it. You will need to see it and make our own judgments.

It appears his death may have been sometime after October 1932.

Thank you so much for the look up. I'll try to get to the library this weekend and take a look at the record.

Barb, Ancestry did not make it easy to view this document. After finding it, only half of the Mingel page appears. When this happens, click on print, and then click on the Custom Print option. Then the full image will appear, and you can enlarge for viewing and printing.

Good luck Jack

Barb, I did a little more searching last night. For the wife.... she has an Social Sec.# given in the State of Kansas before 1951. Last address as 67357 Parsons, Labette Co., Kansas.

There is an Obit for a Ann V. Mingel published in the Wichita Eagle/Beacon 20 or 21 June 2003. She died 19 June 2003, and this Ann V. Mingel had a husband of George E. Mingel.

She is buried in the Oakland Cemetery, Parsons, Kansas. It could be George might be found in this same cemetery.

Good Luck Jack

Dear Barb,

I had no idea that George Mingle (Mingel) has an entry on Ancestry's World Tree. The last place I looked. Appears they had children. Now you have sources to back up what has been posted on the World Tree.

On Genealogy.com for the county of Labette, KS., back in Jan. of 2008, someone seeking information on the Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons, was given the phone number of the city office, and told the office has a list of the burials. The number given is 620 - 421 - 7010. You might give it a try.

I'm very grateful for all your help, Jack. I took advantage of the free two week sub to Ancestry and looked up both the information you gave me on George E. Mingle. I'm certain that is him that is listed at the
Home For Disabled Volunteer Soldiers and is also him married to Ann V.

I called Parsons KS and discovered George is buried next to his wife, plus they were able to give me his death date.

Thanks again,
Barb Chandler
