Hi Draskcap,
The information was compiled by Evelyn W Henry, g/d of Fred Seymour. We have a wonderful file at the historical society that she donated. She use to live with her daughter, but I no longer have a contact for her.

Hi Denise, Thank your for your response. The reason I asked about Harvey Seymour was because I thought I could answer the question as to why he came to Lee Co., and then Whiteside Co., IL. Harvey's sister Angeline married William Weed Heaton. Angeline died in 1838 after the birth of her son Dwight Seth Heaton.
Dwight stayed with his maternal Collins Seymour grandparents until about 1854 or 1855 and then by 1860 is with his father in Dixon. William Weed Heaton studied law and was admitted to the bar in Indiana after his wife died, then became a Judge of the circuit court in Lee, Whiteside and Carroll Counties. You may have read about him. William would have been Harvey's brother-in-law and Dwight, his nephew.
Dwight also became a lawyer in Dixon. He served in the Civil War and is buried in Oakwood cemetery in Dixon, not too far from his father. William was a brother to my gr. grandfather James Abram Heaton, also of Lee Co., IL.
