You're very welcome Debra; it's my pleasure, really! For others reading this, Debra has "roots" with the SHERE and PIERCESON families. If you have an interest in these family names, please post here....you may hook up with a relative! I also have copies of Funeral Records for the Pierceson family. Please contact me if you would like copies.

Hello My name is Bonnie Swanson and i have a picture postcard of my grandmother that has this written on it
Aunt & Uncle Mr&Mrs Will Shere Tampico Ill. Their daughter married your dads cousin Jack Pierceson Rock Fall, Ill.
In the correspondence area someone wrote This was taken when your mother was about 18 I think. Her name Vera Dow was at the top. I know my grandmother was not the daughter of Will Shere, but would like to know if you know anyone who might know who is who. BSwanson49@aol.com

Dear Denise
Hello again, I am the lady who you introduced Debbie Peterson to. While looking for some pictures,I found a picture of my fathers that says "Craddock School-April 3rd, 1905". Four of the eight children are named on the cardboard backing. Lamon, Tampico, ILL. in pressed into the cardboard also. Their is two women in the picture also. The children named are Olive, Orville,Vivia,Vera Dow. Vera Dow was my fathers mother. Do you have a copy or would you like me to copy this one and send it to you.
I'am trying to make a trip out there the weekend of August 15 and meet Debbie. I was in Tampico on Wed. July 9, to find the library and Historical Society closed. A nice lady from the Reagan Museum let me in to the library to see if I could fine my GGrandparents obituaries, but we didn't. What I did fine was my GGmothers funeral record, which listed her parents who I had no idea who they where. Now I have their names and hope to fine out more. This is running on and I better go, hope to meet you when I get back out their. Bonnie Swanson bswanson49@aol.com

Michael,
I too have a blank for Robert L. SHERE.
But I have another question - Why are there so many SHERE's with a middle initial of "L"??

Michael- Before I was born there used to be a Shere reunion at Lawrence Park in Rock Falls,Il. I think my mom said that my dad had a cousin named Bob Shere and that he was married to a German woman named Lena. I do not know this to be a fact as my Mom is 84 and her memory is not always correct. I have a picture of this woman she said is Lena at the reunion so may be she is correct. What Shere's are you related to if I may ask? Deb

Good morning Michael- My mother was partially right- she did say Lisa not Lena . I thought she said she was married to Robert but apparently not. What is your father's name? I am not sure how old you are- do you remeber the Shere reunuions? I will have to look up that picture- I think my brother is in it also. My father was Glen Pierceson- his grandfather was Will Shere. Robert L Shere and my mother Lisa were married in Berlin Germany in 1948. Helga and I are his step-children ,we were adopted in 1948 in germany. Helga is 66 years old and I am 64. When we arrived in Yorktown we could not speak any english, so it was a difficult time, we didnt even know what grasshoppers were. That picture you have of the reunion, I played with little boy. Glen and his wife were good friends with Robert and Lisa. Could you sen a picture? Thanks for the memories. mike

I am on my way to work in a few minutes but will look for it tonight. Can you send your mailing address to me debra@wmccinc.com. I will send a copy to you. Deb

MIKE,
NOW, YOU ARE ASKING SOME HARD QUESTIONS!!
GARY MYERS MOVED AWAY FROM THE AREA A LONG TIME AGO AND THE WORD IS , HE HAS PASSED AWAY. HIS BROTHER IS STILL IN ANNAWAN AND WORKS AT THE COOP THERE.
I THINK MARTHA BROWN WAS THE TEACHER AT THE SCHOOL IN 1948. OTHER TEACHERS WERE RITA WANNEMAKER, WHO LIVES IN HOOPOLE STILL, PHYLIS KAY, AND A MABEL YATES.
HOPE THIS BRINGS BACK SOME MEMORIES.

Mike- I can not thank you enough for the pictures- I was amazed when I opened the envelope. I never thought I would ever know what John Ellis Shere or Ambrose Shere looked like. My mother was so happy to see these pictures- thank you for bringing back those memories for her. You and your wife Judy are such an attractive couple- is that Little Rock in the background? Thank you also for sending the pictures to Denise so she could post them- they are treasures for the Shere family now and in the future. iam sending you an e-mail. Deb

Mike,

Thank you for sharing the Shere family pictures. That was my first look at John E. Shere. I am a decendent of him through his oldest son, Thomas Shere. I have numerous family pictures from that time period that I would be happy to share with anyone interested.

Would you consider emailing the photos to us? I will add them to the family album. You know you can print photos from this site. Better yet, you can "save" them to your photo editing program to edit or make copies, etc. Thanks.

Deb,
I mentioned the reunion at our last TAHS meeting and suggested we have our Yorktown Cemetery walk on same day. They were very much open to it. Would this be conducive with the reunion plans? My goodness, it would be like a living, walking "History Book"! I hope you folks will consider it.

Oh, don't forget about the bed and breakfast here in Tampico. It is awesome and would be a great meeting place for you. It is huge, with full facilities, huge yard, huge screened-in porch (about 10 tables/chairs), huge basement with gym equipment, TV, pool table, bar, extra beds, etc. Most bedrooms have their own bath. One is on first floor with handi-capped accessable private bathroom. If you go to our "Table of Contents" on this site, scroll down to AREA ATTRACTIONS & ACCOMODATIONS and click on Canal House B&B, you can see pictures of it. For more details, contact Terry or Beverly: 815-438-2096 (July is busy month for them, so contact at your earliest convenience). I have recommended several people to it and they just loved it!
Thanks,
Denise
