TAHS May Updates
May 14, 2014
REMINDER! Time to renew your annual TAHS Dues. http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com/Membership_Donations.html
Our April Program was presented by Frances Bishop, Regent of Rock River Chapter of D.A.R. & Rosanne Kaletka-Johnson, Registrar. It was very informative on both the history of the Organization as well as the procedures to apply. https://picasaweb.google.com/105896818813466091326/TAHSPrograms2014?authuser=0&feat=directlink
I attended the SMALL MUSEUM CONFERENCE in Dixon, sponsored by the Lee County Genealogical & Historical Societies on May 3 in the Loveland Community Center. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2BY7meZr6uARzhULWxiTHR6cGc/edit?usp=sharing This was an extremely informative conference with top-notch speakers from IL and WI. It was great to know how much we are doing correctly, but also an eye opener on where we need to improve! The event was sponsored by the Lee County Genealogical & Historical Societies and hosted by the Loveland Community Center. It was the first of what I hope will be many more conferences geared towards small museums. I HIGHLY recommend attending the next one.
Attended Historic Homes of Illinois Conference, at the Hegeler Carus Mansion, LaSalle, May 6, 2014 with Joan Johnson & Shirley Lester, of the Ronald Reagan Birthplace. We discussed issues that affect Historic Homes, Museums, and Landmarks as well as possible initiatives we can work on together to increase our exposure. A new website is being developed.
