The Historical Society is an all-volunteer organization, open by appointment only. The Family History Library & Research Center is located upstairs from the Historical Building. If you would like to do research, please contact Denise McLoughlin, 815-590-2143 or email: tampicohistoricalsociety@gmail.com or the TAHS president, Joan Johnson, 815-622-8705, garyjoan@thewisp.net. The Ronald Reagan Birthplace/Museum is located a few doors north of the Historical Society (111-113 Main St.) When they are open, if they are not busy with a tour, they can let you into the Historical Building (119 Main St.) for a tour. If you know in advance that you will be in town and would like to tour both museums, please call ahead so we can have enough staff on hand.
If my schedule allows, I am hoping to have specific days to have the Family History Library/Research Center Open. I'd like to try at least one day during daytime hours and one evening. You can always call me or email me if you are going to be in town on a specific day and would like to do genealogical research. I will do my best to accommodate you.

TROPHIES, PLAQUES & PICTURES! "Calling all coaches & THS atheletes!" We would love to have a program at one of our regular monthly meetings (4th Tuesday of each month, 7p.m.) giving some history on the trophies and the events they represent. Please contact me if you are or know of a coach or athelete that could share some memories or if you would like to stop by and see the trophies/plaques/photos. 815-590-2143, tampicohistoricalsociety@gmail.com. You could also contact the TAHS president, Joan Johnson, 815-622-8705 or garyjoan@thewisp.net. Thank you.
The TAHS has acquired many of the old trophies from the middle school & the old Tampico High School. For a free-will donation we would like to rehome some of these trophies, plaques & photos. We just don't have enough room for all of them. They would be a great gift, either to a family member, friend or even to yourself! I have posted some of the photos in our Picasa photo albums, but you can schedule a time to come look at all of them. Contact Denise, tampicohistoricalsociety@gmail.com or 815-590-2143 or Joan Johnson, 815-622-8705 or garyjoan@thewisp.net.
WHAT'S NEW? - http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com/Whats_New.html This is where I post any additions to the website for the current month. It will include a direct link to the article or photo.
PICASA PHOTO ALBUMS https://picasaweb.google.com/105896818813466091326 I am slowly migrating all of our photos over to Google's Picasa Web Albums. You can access the albums from our TABLE OF CONTENTS http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com/Index.html > scroll down to PICASA WEB ALBUMS. At this writing, we have 199 albums! I am still adding the links to the TOC page. You can also go directly to the PICASA ALBUMS. There are two pages of albums, so you need to scroll down to bottom of first page and click on "See more" to advance to 2nd page of albums. https://picasaweb.google.com/105896818813466091326 These albums also contain the headstone photos in our cemeteries. Eventually, the Cemetery Indexes on our website will list the names, b/d dates, parents, spouse and a link to their obituary and their headstone.
If you are confused or need any help navigating the site, feel free to contact me via email or phone and will be more than happy to assist you or email you the link to what you need. Are you new to our website? Here are some tips on how to find what you are looking for: 1. Use the search box on our Home page: http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com/Home_Page.html (or www.tampicohistoricalsociety.com) OR 2. Go to the TABLE OF CONTENTS (TOC): http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com/Index.html The first box is general information. The rest of the boxes are in alphabetical order by subject. OR 3. Post on our INTERACTIVE MESSAGE BOARD. This reaches a broader audience than just emailing me. You need to register (free). http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com/Message_Board.html (Upper right corner - "Register or Log In." (This is not the same as the sign-up for the newsletter.) I try to check the sign-up daily because I have to 'accept' it manually. Sorry about that. We were hit by spammers so much I almost had to close the Message Boards. This one-time registration helps prevent so much spam. If you do not get an email response to your registration within 24 hours, feel free to notify me at tampicohistoricalsociety@gmail.com to let me know you are waiting for approval.
